FCC commemorates the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with Security Forces

FCC supports the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated every year on 25 November. The Group makes a call within the company to remember its principles and inform about its commitment and vision: zero tolerance to gender violence and promotion of social and professional integration of women victims of this scourge.

Today, at FCC's corporate headquarters in Las Tablas, Madrid, the company held a ceremony attended by the president of the FCC Group, Esther Alcocer Koplowitz, as well as the company's top executives.

In the format of a round table discussion, the event focused on the importance of the role played by the units of the Security Forces and Corps in assisting women who are victims of gender-based violence. The event was opened by Isidoro Valverde, manager of Labor Relations and Diversity in FCC's Corporate HR Department, and was moderated by journalist Helena Resano.

On behalf of the National Police, we have had the presence of María Elena Palacios Tejero, chief inspector of the Service of the Unit of Attention to the Family and Women (UFAM), accompanied by the chief commissioner, María Cristina Marí García, head of the Central Unit of Attention to the Family and Women (UFAM) of the General Commissariat of the Judicial Police. Palacios Tejero expressed her concern about the relationship between gender violence and the use of social networks "it is essential to raise awareness among the victim so that she takes the step and reports, although sometimes she cannot and the rest of us do it.  In addition, from her intervention we must highlight the message launched by Elena "we want brave women and a committed society".

Antonio José Fernández Prieto, sergeant and head of the Women-Minor Team (EMUME) of the Judicial Police Organic Unit (UOPJ) of the Madrid Command participated on behalf of the Civil Guard. Sergeant Fernández Prieto explained what the VioGen System is: "The VioGen system is a computer application where the complaint is collected and then an evaluation is made to see the level of risk that the victim has of suffering another aggression. It is a much more direct system".

Finally, on behalf of the Municipal Police of Madrid, attended by Marta Fernández Ulloa, chief commissioner of the Main Police Station of the Judicial Police of the Service of Attention to Women Victims of Gender Violence (SAVG 24 hours), accompanied by Ana Fernández Izquierdo, general director of Equality and against Gender Violence, whose Directorate depends on the SAVG 24 hours. Both, specialized personnel on the subject and available 24 hours a day, commented that it is important to accompany the victim throughout the process of gender violence, they have to let the victim know that they are not alone. Marta Fernández commented that "the role of companies and the realization of events such as these is fundamental for the eradication of gender violence".

The event closed with the presentation of awards to the units of the Security Forces and Corps to thank them for their work, involvement and care for women victims of gender violence. The Business Director of the Real Estate Area, Ana Hernández, accompanied by Filomeno Ortiz Aspe, Director of Administration and Finance of the Real Estate Area, was in charge of presenting these awards to the Security Forces and Corps units, emphasizing in her speech that "for us it is essential to publicize your units specialized in the prevention and investigation of criminal offenses and crimes related to gender, domestic and sexual violence and against minors, always providing them with specialized, immediate attention, adapted to the type of crime and its circumstances".
